Road Trips or Daily Drives? Be Road-Smart This May

Posted by Camille Hiponia on

From seatbelts to emergency prep, here’s your safety checklist.

May is Road Safety Awareness Month, and it's the perfect time to check yourself (and your car!) before you hit the road. Whether you're commuting daily, going on a road trip, or just running errands, here are a few road-smart tips to help you travel safely — and with more peace of mind.

1. Buckle Up — Always
Seatbelts are your first line of defense. They might feel unnecessary for short trips, but they're literally lifesavers in a crash. No matter how quick the drive, strap in — and make sure everyone else in the car does too.

2. Keep Your Car Road-Ready
Your brakes, lights, tires, and engine are your ride-or-die crew. Give your car regular checkups — tire pressure, fluid levels, battery, all of it. It’s way cooler to fix things before they break.

3. Don’t Drive Distracted
Texting, scrolling, taking calls — they can wait. A split-second distraction can lead to a major accident. Turn on “Do Not Disturb” mode or stash your phone in the glove box.

4. Stick to the Speed Limit (Seriously)
Speeding might get you there faster, but it also increases the risk of accidents big time. Drive smart — and give yourself extra time so you don’t feel rushed.

5. Be Emergency-Ready
No one plans for an accident — but being prepared helps a lot. Having emergency contacts, insurance info, and even a prepaid emergency health card (like LifesavER or LifesavER+) can give you peace of mind while you're on the road.

🛡️ LifesavER and LifesavER+ are prepaid emergency health cards that cover ER treatment (up to ₱50,000) — and come with life insurance too. No checkups, no hassle, just instant coverage when you need it most.
